North Portland Newcomer: St. Johns Coffee Roasters

Step aside, Cathedral. There’s a new coffee shop in town.

Tucked away on the quiet corner of Ivanhoe and Leavitt sits St. Johns Coffee Roasters — a newcomer to the North Portland coffee scene.

Born from owner Mount Burns’ lifelong love of coffee, and a chance encounter with a coffee roaster for sale on Craigslist, St. Johns Coffee Roasters touts a simple mission: to create real good coffee that is also feel good coffee.

You’ll only find organic and fair trade blends at this simple, yet eclectic establishment which features a tasting room, roastery and gift shop. An oasis for coffee connoisseurs and Portland hipsters alike, the shop serves small batch, artisan-roasted blends in an atmosphere that can only be described as grunge industrial chic.
